{here + now} graduates part deux

Every year will always be another big step for my two boys as they move on to the next grade and I can’t help as a mom, to not feel that sting of knowing that they’re growing up and becoming more and more independent. This year, my youngest finished Kindergarten while my oldest, moves on to 2nd grade. Is it just me, or am I the only mom who chokes up with bittersweet tears? I can’t even imagine what I will be like at their high school graduation. A basket case that’s for sure. My heart just cannot fathom the love my heart contains, its so overwhelming at times that I wish I can travel back to when they were little. It’s only yesterday that I held them for the first time in my arms and took my first glimpse of their sweet, precious face. I can recall hearing their little cries and how they would open their eyes to look up at me, staring intently at my face as they recognize my voice. I can still feel that bundle of warmth wrapped up against my chest and feeling the tightness of their grip as their tiny fingers held on to mine. Several years later, I can barely keep up with their short attention spans, high energies and rambunctiousness, raging appetites (Lucas especially), silly observations about life, and their audacity to jump off furniture and act like ninja turtles.  LOL. The joys of having BOYS… But, one thing has not changed (yet) is their cuddles, sweet kisses, and the need to have me close. Its these moments, that I want to cherish forever while I can….
